Ariel Freeman
“Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful,
we must carry it with us or we find it not.” - Emerson

I grew up wanting to be an artist. However, my love of art took a different direction as I entered adulthood and I became a nurse.

I rediscovered painting just a few years ago when I took a community education watercolor workshop. On the first day of class I knew that I would be a painter. When painting I felt peace and had clarity like no other time.

As a nurse, I have shared and witnessed moments of the human experience common to us all, both noble and tragic. These valuable encounters continue to influence me as an artist and how I view and appreciate art.

Everyday scenes inspire me; scenes that make me pause, take a deep breath, or just take a closer look. Mostly, I paint for the joy of creating and depicting beauty; sometimes overt, other times the beauty of line, texture, or composition, or a message to the viewer. I paint mostly in watercolor, but enjoy experimenting with styles and textures. I try to find the technique best capturing the beauty that first caught my attention. I want my work to express the feeling of the moment and move the viewer as it does me.

For me success is finding balance between all the many roles in life. I am committed to my journey as an artist and as a nurse. I am honored to be included and involved with this wonderful community of artists!
