“By its nature historic preservation is always autobiographical,
a person, community, society, or nation paints its own portrait by what it chooses to save."
W. Brown Morton III Past Meets Future – Saving America’s Historic Environments.

My art is heavily influence by my background in historic preservation. I want my painting to reveal a place that I have experienced, and to share it with others. In landscapes -- the calm mood of a snowy marsh in winter, that was one of the first English settlements in Prince William County, saved now as a national wildlife refuge; or in portraits of my family and friends like the pastel of my daughter at her grandfather’s city on a antique carousel saved by the residents of Mansfield, Ohio. I also enjoy capturing small unknown treasures of places like Cow Branch, a little creek near my house.
