“I look for what I love about a subject and with a distinct idea of how I wish to communicate it; I try to convey it honestly. There is always something that I want to say and I strive to strengthen and obtain the ability to say it through experience and sheer determination of mastering the medium.”
I had an early interest in creating art. At a young age my Dad introduced me to a sketchbook, drawing pencils and an egg as my subject. Ever since then, I have always felt enchanted to see an accumulation of marks or brush strokes evolve into something that feels real, like a portrait that carries the essence and presence of a person. I feel that portraiture is the most emotionally powerful genre of all visual arts because it is personal relationships that are at the core of what makes us human.
