Neal enjoys carving into the clay while it is still soft, and also the technique of sgraffito
Originally from Virginia, Neal Reed first learned to make pottery while living in Minnesota. After studying clay in North Carolina he returned to Fredericksburg, Virginia and spent several years working for potters Phil and Trista Chapman. He has been Artst in Residence at Dan Finnegan's LibertyTown Arts Workshop since May of 2002, where he also teaches.
Neal enjoys carving into the clay while it is still soft, and also the technique of sgraffito. The designs on his pieces are inspired by nature and by the potters that have come before him. The stoneware work is dishwasher, microwave and food safe. It is meant to be used, as well as admired!
